I had been using my trusted iPhone Xs for nearly 3 years. It was working alright but it ran out of storage and eventually had gotten slow for day to day tasks. Still, I wanted to wait for the iPhone 14 rumoured to be announced this year… until my iPhone Xs broke before that happened.
After contemplating on wether to wait for the iPhone 14 or just get the iPhone 13, I decided to go with the latter. So I bought an iPhone 13 Pro, 128 GB in Graphite (it was a hard decision though, thanks to the new Alpine Green colour).

One month into using it, I have to say I am absolutely enjoying it. I like the new boxy design, the matte glass back and the bigger camera bump (haha yes). I have no regret whatsoever about not waiting. After all, I had the need to upgrade.
The ProMotion Display
The XDR display on the iPhone 13 series is absolutely amazing. With the 120Hz ProMotion display on the Pro models, it is even better. For me, I instantly noticed how smooth it is on a 120Hz display. Day to day tasks feels much more faster and snappier.
For users who don’t mind about not having the 120Hz refresh rate on their mobile phone display, I would say go for the iPhone 13. They’re basically the same phone without the extra flair.

The Camera
The camera has been fantastic. I finally have a sharp camera on my phone again (my iPhone Xs camera has a slight crack on it). I took loads of photos on this phone during Hari Raya Aidilfitri using different camera modes available on the 13 Pro model. My favourite one has been the wide angle as well as the portrait mode. I also enjoyed playing around with the macro mode. It’s not after all gimmicky like the other phones. It actually produces very good quality macro shots.

I am still learning to master the cameras on the iPhone 13 Pro but so far I am enjoying it. I will be doing a separate blog post to share some of the photos shot on this iPhone.
Why iPhone 13 Pro
I went for the Pro model because I want to experience something new. I would like to have the matte glass back. I would love to experience a higher refresh rate on a phone for the first time. I would also love to experience the Pro camera features that come with it. It is also because I have the budget for it. If you really don’t mind about not having these features, then the regular iPhone 13 is already a fantastic beast.
I picked the regular Pro model over the Pro Max because I didn’t like bigger phone. The regular 13 Pro just feels right in my hand.

Bottom line, after one month the experience has been amazing. I bought several cases already — the Apple Silicone Case and the Nomad Modern Leather Case, which hopefully I will be reviewing here too.
Come back soon.
